A lot of the posts on this site are going to be about writing. How to write, what to write about, why write, writing for blogs, writing novels, the business of writing, basically anything related to writing is fair game. It’s what I do and want to do more of so if I always keep in mind that I am a writer, I will write more. It’s like a viscous cycle without the viscous. Let’s call it momentum building.
Writers write and keep writing until…well…they die I suppose.
Why write at all? Â If you read then you can figure that out. Â Whether we read a novel or a newspaper we are reading someone’s thoughts and feelings communicated in a certain way. Â Some of it’s good and makes us give an amusing, “huh,” while others are bland and make us skim through the rest. Â Then there are the few who when we read them make us marvel at what it means to be human. Â When I read a really good story it’s like seeing a piece of humanity grow and expand right in front of my eyes to the point where it intersects with my own humanity and becomes a part of me. Â Sometimes it impales be like a knife point while other times it folds into me and around me like a blanket.
From the writer’s point of view, I see this creative spark as a glowing ember held in my hand that I coax to life. Â I make it the knife or the blanket or whatever and send it out there for others to experience. Â If you’re a writer or a reader…or a person I guess, share your insights in the most humanly way possible.
