We had to call the game early today. We had be pressing the play and notched a couple of goals but the rain and wind picked up to the point where it didn’t really make sense to make 5 year-olds keep playing. I don’t know why we think this is England (good movie by the way) and that we should have the same season they do. This is Canada and even though it is Vancouver, it still snows, and it’s still winter.
Fortunately, the fans brought their ponchos
The kids liked it at first. But the as the cold soaked through it became harder and harder to get them off the sideline and into the game. Combine this with the fact that a lot of kids are sick this time of year and that parents have to stand in the chill, it just doesn’t make sense. We’re on grass as well which means that the field can be shut down at any time and it has been on more than one occasion.
Why not play in the early fall and late winter/early spring? That way, the U6 Cougars can dominate and parents can enjoy the action in relative comfort.
